Nsereko hopeful of retaining Kampala central MP seat

Kampala, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT |   The incumbent Kampala Central Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko is optimistic to retain his seat despite contesting against several major opposition candidates.

Nsereko, an independent candidate will contest against the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s Cedric Babu, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s Harold Kaija, National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Fred Nyanzi, who were all nominated on Thursday. 

He says that he will prioritize better planning in the city, advocate for simple and acceptable taxes as well as low rent in the city sector are some of the key issues. 

He adds that his performance in Parliament for the last two terms speak volumes. 

Babu says that there is a lot that has not been done by previous leaders in the Constituency and that it was time for him to make a change.

He says that there is still the big problem of unemployment in the city, poor sanitation and that there is a need to create an enabling environment for the city dwellers.  

Kaija says that there is need to balance the economic divide in Kampala Central where a big number live in poverty.

Kaija said that once elected, he will be the voice of the marginalized people in the city.
