Kabale, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Mark Twinamatsiko, the head coach of the Kabale-based Kigezi Home Boyz Football Club has been sacked over poor performance.
Twinamatsiko was unveiled by the club in October 2020 on a three-year contract replacing Vialli Bainomugisha who had also been sacked. However, the Club Chief Executive Officer, Brian Akankwasa has terminated the contract, according to a statement released this morning by the Club’s Communications Officer, Timothy Tuhumwire.
The statement indicates that Denis Tushabe, the academy coach has now been assigned to tentatively take charge of the first-team duties as the head coach.
”The management of Kigezi HomeBoyz Football Club and the club Coach Mr Mark Twinamatsiko have agreed by mutual consent to end his employment with the club with immediate effect.” The club recognizes his contribution towards the growth and development of KHB FC and wishes him well in his future endeavours.” reads the statement dated May 6, 2021.
By the time of his sacking, Twinamatsiko had won only one of the seven games played by the club in the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Big League. The team lost two games and drew four times. He had also overseen the clubs’ three games of the Stanbic Uganda Cup where he lost two and won only one.
At the time of his exit, Kigezi Homeboyz was courting relegation with a few games left on the schedule. The Rwenzori group of FUFA Big Lague is led by Tooro United with 15 points in comparison to Kigezi’s meagre six points from seven games.
Twinamatsiko has previously guided Saints FC and Kitara FC to the top-flight league. He has also managed at Kirinya Jinja Secondary school (former Busoga United) and Masindi-based Doves FC.
