Fred Kajoba throws in the towel at Vipers

Kajoba

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Fred Kajoba has resigned from his position as head coach of Vipers SC after serving for a year at the helm of Uganda Premier League Champions. Kajoba told URN that he decided to step down following misunderstandings between him and the club’s technical director, Charles Masembe.

The tactician, who doubles as the Uganda cranes goalkeeping coach, says that Masembe forced him to choose between Viper SC and the Uganda Cranes shortly after his return from Uganda Cranes training session at the MTN Omondi in Lugogo on Monday morning.

“Every time I go for national duty, I write a request letter to the club. Today I went to attend the training but when I came back, Mr. Masembe called me and asked me to choose between Vipers and Uganda Cranes and I chose the national team because you cannot deny me a chance to serve my country, “Kajoba told URN.

Adding that, “I thank the Club President for the chance he has given me at Vipers and I wish them all the best” Masembe couldn’t be reached to comment on the matter by the time of filing this story. Kajoba’s the resignation comes a few days to the Viper’s Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal return leg against SC Villa at Bombo Military barracks.

He leaves Vipers third on the Uganda Premier League table with 56 points, two behind the leaders Express FC with just four games to play. The gaffer joined Vipers midway of the 2019/2020 season from Bright Stars and helped the venoms to lift the season’ silverware.
