Kakumiro mob kills two suspected cattle thieves

Kakumiro, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | An angry mob has lynched two suspected cattle thieves in Kakumiro district. The two raided the home of one of the residents at Katugu village in Nalweyo sub county on Sunday and attempted to steal cows.

However, luck ran out for the suspects when one of the residents spotted them and raised an alarm, which attracted hundreds of residents. The mob pursued the suspects who were fleeing for their dear life, intercepted them and lynched them.

Yosam Kwikiriza, the Katugu village LC I says that the suspected thugs raided the village at around 8 pm. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson says that by the time police arrived at the scene, it was late to save the lives of the suspects.

He says that police picked up their bodies and took them to Kakumiro health center IV for postmortem. Police are yet to establish the identities of the mob victims.
