Johannesburg, South Africa | Xinhua | South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday said it was time to elevate the country’s relations with Kenya into a “strategic partnership.”
He made the remarks after holding bilateral talks with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Tuesday.
The two Leaders reaffirmed the strategic importance of bilateral relations between the two countries and reiterated their commitment to elevate the nature of the relationship through the conclusion of a Strategic Partnership Agreement.
As the two nations planned to boost trade and investments, Ramaphosa pointed out that elevating ties could be key for other sectors.
Kenyatta is on a state visit to South Africa until Wednesday.
The main purpose of the visit was to take stock of the current state of bilateral relations between the two countries whilst also providing an opportunity to explore other areas of mutual interest and benefit for the peoples of South Africa and Kenya.
