Luweero, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Security on Thursday burst an Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) training center in Luweero district.
The ADF is an affiliate of the Islamic State in central Africa and is also blamed for the bombings in the Ugandan capital Kampala last November that left six people dead and 33 others injured. The outfit is based in the jungles of eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Felix Kulayigye, UPDF spokesperson said the facility had an underground tunnel whose walls were riddled with bullets holes and had punching bags.
According to Kulayigye, a team of UPDF officers raided the home Wednesday and discovered an underground hole in one of the rooms the suspect was using for training and assembling a bomb.
Kulayigye said the owner of the facility was the mastermind of the two bombs in Kampala in November.
“He was arrested after the two bombings and given amnesty. Now he has abused amnesty by going back to the activities he had been doing,” Kulayigye said.

The military spokesperson said more suspects were still at large and security agencies were apprehending them.
He said the suspects had bought a car which they were going to load with explosives and detonate it at a public place.
“They were assembling a bomb which would be taken by that car to a public place,” Kulayigye said.
