Reporting to the Assistant Librarian -Children, he/she will be assisting the Assistant Librarian – Children and the Project Manager in cataloguing and classifying library resources and maintaining a clean reading space .He/She will also handle the arising health issues that might come up as a result of dusty and dirty environment.
Key duties & responsibilities
1. Enter bio-data of library users in Microsoft Excel data base.
2. Assisting the Assistant Librarian – Children and the Project Manager in cataloguing and classifying library resources.
3. Answering enquiries raised by library users.
4. Working hand in hand with Assistant librarian to support initiatives that enable the library resources meet the needs of children.
5. Suggesting to management improvements in ensuring in ensuring accessibility of the library.
6. Reach out to parents / guardians to mobilise them to send children to the library especially after school and in holidays.
7. Support the Assistant Librarians to link up with schools with proximity of the library to borrow books and return them as per agreed terms.
8. Promoting and marketing NCLN services.
9. Engage children in Child Friendly Services manner.
10. Provide daily, weekly, monthly statistical reports on access and utilisation of NCLN information materials.
11. Carry out any other duty as assigned to you by your supervisor.
Requirements
• A diploma Library and Information Science, Social Work and Community Development, Social Work and Social Development, Education, Adult Education and any other relevent course.
• Advanced level certificate with at least 02-year experience in Library and Information management, child protection, and community-based protection.
• Computer knowledge and skills is an added advantage.
