Windle International Uganda (WIU) is an International Non-Governmental Organization managing Education programmes in refugee settlements in Uganda. WIU is the lead agency for education in 9 out of the 12 settlements, although we operate in all 12 settlements including Kampala. We work in close collaboration with Government of Uganda through the Office of the Prime Minister. Windle empowers refugees and people affected by conflict to achieve their academic potential and contribute to sustainable development by providing education and training opportunities. Our mandate is to expand access to, and improve the quality of education and training for refugees and communities affected by conflict, neglect or discrimination. WIU intends to improve its programming and implementation based on evidence. Therefore, the agency leverages on the research team skills to come up with evidence for rapid response and technical assistance for WIU staff and partners. This evidence is incorporated in education programming that transforms society. With this evidence comes best practices to design, implement and evaluate refugee education and development programmes.

Contract Type: Part Time
Job Summary:
The research team seeks to recruit responsible, qualified, and competent individuals who can work with minimum supervision as Research Assistants and Data Managers to support data collection and reporting whenever called upon.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
Actively participate in data collection in accordance with the study protocol Answer questions that the respondents may ask during the course of data collection Participate in data validation to ensure quality of the data collected Provide daily updates on field work including interviews completed and any other important information on field data collection Perform any other duties assigned by the data collection team leaders or the study Coordinator
Qualifications, Skills And Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or any other related discipline Current DAFI scholars and alumni are desirable and encouraged to apply Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) and at least one of the local languages spoken in the duty stations. Prior experience of conducting face to face interviews. Prior experience of collecting either quantitative or and qualitative data. Knowledge and experience of use of digital data collection tools Prior experience in interviewing Persons We Serve (PWS) Excellent reporting, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to follow research procedures and guidelines reliably. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and observe deadlines. Must be residing in the refugee hosting districts.
