Head Recovery at Finance Trust Bank

This position reports directly to the Managing Director and will be based at Head Office.

Role of the Job:
To ensure efficient management of Non- Performing Loans (NPLs), optimum recovery while minimizing credit risk. Monitor performance of written off loans in line with the debt recovery, credit policies and procedures. Ensure recovery operations comply with regulatory requirements

Key Result Areas:
1. Formulate and implement strategies for recovery of delinquent facilities in line with the recovery policy and procedures
2. Spear head the achievement of Gross reduction on delinquent and non-performing loans bank wide.
Spear head effective monitoring of all the bank loans and minimize non-performing loan.
4. Review internal Policies and procedures and ensure they comply with Bank of Uganda guidelines and other relevant regulatory policies and advise on new developments in the recovery process.
5. Provide leadership to the recovery team and ensure that delinquent facilities are timeously recovered or rehabilitated to performing status in line with the collections policy and procedures.
6. Manage and closely monitor the productivity of the recovery staff in line with set targets and performance agreements.
Manage allocation of portfolios to external debt collectors and other service providers in recovery and ensure adherence to the terms and conditions of engagement.
8. Ensure that written off loans are particularly followed up and recovered in line with set targets.
9. Ensure that proper procedures are followed in liquidation of customer collaterals and guide the branches and the recovery agents on the recovery process.
Any other duties as may be assigned by your immediate supervisor from time to time

Minimum educational and technical competence requirements:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline such as Finance, Business Administration, law, Economics. Statistics etc.
2. 5 years’ experience of debt recovery in a financial institution.
3. Experience in credit operations and lending
4. Experience in leading a team at managerial level
5. Experience working with Court bailiffs and actioners
6. Good at stakeholder management
7. Good communication skills (oral and written).
8. Demonstrable leadership abilities/experience
9. Customer service
10. Ability to work under pressure.
11. Team work oriented
12. Demonstrated a high level of integrity
13. Customer oriented
14. Ability to transfer knowledge and provide guidance to others.
15. Ability to work long hours without supervision.
