The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire a STUDY NURSE for the PULESA –Uganda study.

The successful candidate will be based within Kampala/Wakiso districts Purpose of position The study nurse will be responsible for the recruitment of study participants and administering all study-related procedures to these participants. In addition, the study nurse will provide technical support to health facility teams and support the successful implementation of integrated HIV-Hypertension (HTN) care models in selected HIV Clinics in Kampala and Wakiso districts.

• Performing clinic-based lab procedures

• Inventory management

Job
description
1. Participate in protocol/SOPs or any other study trainings.
2. Participate in counseling and management of study participants
3. Screen, obtain consent, enroll eligible participants, and follow study participants
4. Participate in data collection and entry and ensure that all data collected is accurate and complete
5. Offer support to the community health workers for the follow-up of study participants.
6. Organize patient follow-up and carry out home visits if required
7. Participate in training and other capacity-building activities on the implementation of integrated HIV-HTN care for HIV clinicians in selected ART clinics in Kampala and Wakiso.
8. Perform first-level quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) to ensure all fields in the consent forms and case report forms (CRFs) are complete and accurate
9. Assist in generating study progress reports as needed
10. Communicate closely with locally and internationally based Clinical Investigators by email and weekly telephone conferences
11. Any other duty assigned by your supervisor. In addition, the responsibilities may be revised to suit the changing needs of the Project. If and when this is necessary, you will always be informed.

Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
1. Degree in Nursing from a reputable institution
2. Up-to-date registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
3. GCP & HSP certificate within the last two years
4. Prior NCD/HIV Research Experience
5. Ability to work flexibly with different teams
6. Proficiency in Luganda
7. Previous experience with working in a research environment will be an added advantage
8. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
9. Ability to work under stringent deadlines and to work independently
