The global health security program at Baylor Uganda works closely with the Ministry of Health, other MDAs, District local governments, and collaborating partners to improve Health Security and Build International Health Regulations Core Capacities in prevention, detection and response to public health threats. The program seeks to engage and maintain a pool of deployable surge volunteers in various temporary assignments and locations across a range of thematic areas to enrich careers while contributing to the Global Health Security Agenda.
Overall Responsibilities
• Under the overall guidance of the Laboratory coordinator, and working closely with MoH/ government of Uganda counterparts at all levels and collaborating partners, the surge volunteer will provide technical assistance to improve laboratory services preparedness and response capabilities in supported districts. S/he will support the diagnostic network optimization for safely and accurately detecting/ characterizing pathogens causing epidemic diseases, including AMR. S/he will establish/maintain collaborative networks involving local, subnational and national stakeholders and liaise with other programs and departments.
Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
• A bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology/ Laboratory Sciences with full and active registration with the Allied Health Professionals council.
A master’s degree in any laboratory science field is an added advantage.
